Seven Major Components of a Swimming Pool

What is a swimming pool? A swimming pool is a structure designed to hold water to enable swimming or other activities. And there are seven major components of a swimming pool we need to look up to keep it clean all year long.

Pools can be an in-ground or above-ground pool, you can also choose from different shapes and sizes.

A typical swimming pool needs seven major components:

  • Basin / Pool Shell

Basically, a swimming pool is a giant basin that holds a huge amount of water.

  • A motorized pump

To some of us, a swimming pool is a large basin full of water wherein we can enjoy and have fun all year long. And the heart of the pool is the water pump. Without it, the pool can’t be clean all year round. The main idea is to pump the water in a continuous manner, from the pool, through the filter and back to the pool again. The motorized pump keeps the water sparkling clean all year long.

  • A water filter

During filtration, dirty water from the pool comes through the filter. And once filtered it will the go back into the pool already clean.
The pump and filter system is being connected to add fresh water to the pool. And we can restore the water that is being lost through evaporation by this process.

  • A chemical feeder (manual or automatic chemical dosing system)

A chemical feeder is a quick and effective way to sanitize your swimming pool or spa. The main function of a chemical feeder is to dispense either chlorine or bromine into your pool. It gives the pool owner a break from having to check on chemicals because it will automatically adjust the chemicals on its own. They allow proper chlorine or bromine throughout your pool without over sanitizing it. Chemical feeder lets you simply fill the feeder and have it do all the work for you.

Proper chemical balance for your pool makes your pool clean and safe to use.

  • Drains / Skimmer / Overflow gutter / Main drains

A pool’s so-called main drain is not actually a drain that is, it is not used to drain the water in your pool. Instead, it is an outlet, housing pipe that runs to the pump, skimmer, filter, heater, and then back to the pool. Its primary purpose is to let the swimming pool move and efficiently process all their water.

  • Returns

To give your pool the best filtration you should point your return jet away from your skimmer. And downward to get the best circulation and filtration.

  • PVC plastic plumbing connecting all the elements

PVC plastic plumbing is the one who is connecting all the seven major components of a swimming pool. So, this is very important as well as the pool pump.
