Bondi Icebergs Pool, Bondi

The public pool at Bondi Icebergs (named after Bondi’s winter swimming club). If you’re coming to Sydney and you fancy a swim then Bondi Icebergs has definitely got to be on your must-swim list. Sydney had many beautiful open-air rock pools, but this is the most famous. Icebergs also boast of being the most photographed swimming pool in the world. The pools are open all year round and there are lifeguards there at all times the pools are open.  It is now one of the biggest winter swimming clubs in the world.

Figure Eight Pools, Royal National Park

The outstanding, rockpools full of clear ocean water are set near Burning Palms Beach. You can find them in Sydney’s finest Royal National Park. It is about an hour’s drive south of the city. It will take you about three to four hours to walk along bush tracks to get here. People come from all over the world to see this natural wonder. Bronte Baths, Bronte Beach

The Bronte baths are a popular spot for swimmers and kids of all ages enjoying a refreshing dip. You’re sure to find this place packed on a hot Australian day. The pool is a great spot to spend the day soaking up the sun and enjoying the ocean breeze. The Bronte baths are the perfect spot to go for a morning dip or to get away from the sand at the beach. The rock pool is at Bronte Beach and it can get quite busy on a hot summer day. Bronte bath is a great viewpoint that overlooks the ocean and the horizon. The sun rises along the east coast so this is also a perfect spot to enjoy a beautiful sunrise. The large grassy area by the beach is perfect to hang out on a hot summer day.

Dawn Fraser Baths, Balmain

Built in the early 1880s, Dawn Fraser Baths, located in Elkington Park in Balmain. It is the oldest pool and swimming club in Australia. Built by James Reynolds, with alterations made in 1924. It is also known as Elkington Park Baths, Balmain Baths, Corporation Baths, Dawn Fraser Baths, and Whitehorse Point Baths. The owner of the property is the Inner West Council.

Fairy Bower Pool, Manly

Located along Marine Parade is the lovely Fairy Bower Pool. It is triangular in shape and the sculptures that sit along the rock edge. They’re known as ‘The Sea Nymphs’ or ‘The Oceanides’, were created by Helen Leete. Fairy Bower rockpool is one of many historic pools cut and blasted along the New South Wales. For those who love to snorkel, the marine life in the open water alongside the pool is fantastic. Even a short swim from shore allows swimmers to see coral, large fish, seadragons and starfish.

Maccallum Seawater Pool, Cremorne Point

It is a unique 33m harbourside pool with heritage character and superb views. The waterside timber deck offers an unparalleled sunbathing spot. It was a rock pool created by local residents to form a safe harbor swimming hole. The views at MacCallum Pool alone make it worth a visit. An unbeatable sunbathing spot on a heritage timber deck. Looking over the harbor to Sydney city, the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Like so many of Sydney’s harbor pools, this was once a rockpool but is now enclosed. And filled with fresh saltwater each week.
