How To Fix Your Cloudy Pool Water In Your Swimming Pool

No one does like a cloudy pool, right? Here are some tips from My Pool Guy on how to fix your cloudy pool water in your swimming pool.

Before we tackle on fixing your cloudy pool water, we check first the reasons why we’re having one.

What are the causes of a cloudy pool?

Pool Chemical Imbalanced

Having too much of one chemical and vice versa can also cause the pool water to be cloudy.
Checking your pool water chemistry for pH, alkalinity, chlorine level, and calcium is always a good way to prevent cloudy water.

Chlorine 1.0 to 3.0 ppm

pH 7.2 to 7.8

Total Alkalinity 80 to 120 ppm

Calcium Hardness 200 to 400 ppm

Filtration Problems

The pool pump and pool filter need to run for a particular number of hours daily to do its job accurately.

Having the pool filter for at least eight hours a day is ideal. When the filters don’t run for long enough, the pool water can become stagnant.

Be sure that your pool pump and filter works properly.

Excessive Rains

Rainwater might sound like its the purified type of water for your pool, but too much rain can cause chemical imbalanced in your pool.

Since rains are sometimes unpredictable and it’s also impractical to suggest to cover up your pool every time it rains. So what better thing to do is to check pool water balance every after rainfall.

And if your pool water looks cloudy, better yet test it and adjust as needed.

Environmental Effects

If a cloudy pool is not caused by a chemical imbalance or filter system then it may cause by the environment.

Environment causes such as:
  • Leaves and small debris

Leaves and small debris can build up dust and particles that can put you in trouble when not cleaned up.

  • Algae

Algae build-up caused by an unclean pool can also be a reason for a cloudy pool.
